West Coast Boardriders, WCBR, have welcomed Windansea Surf Club as the newest member this upcoming 2019-2020 season!
We will be representing La Jolla in the Southern Division under the team name La Jolla Boardriders with a logo that gives a nod to our Windansea heritage, competing against Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside and San Clemente.
The WCBR has modeled their contests after the local surf clubs in Australia and has a unique 1 hour heat, tag team format with WSL judging criteria. Each team has 7 divisions, 4 surfers per division (U14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50 & up, Women any age).
The first event we will be competing in is coming up October 12 at Church and are currently recruiting competitive shortboarders to fill all divisions. To be eligible to represent La Jolla, surfers must meet one of the following criteria:
A) Born and raised
B) Attended Elementary, MS, HS or College
C) 5+ years residency
D) Direct inland residents if they surf hometown on a regular basis. If inland from multiple breaks and clubs, surfer will have the choice to select the club they surf for.
