World renowned Scripps Oceanographer Dr. Walter Munk celebrated his 100th birthday last Thursday at the LJ Shores. The boardwalk is now known as WALTER MUNK WAY in his honor. A true giant in ocean science, among his many achievements, Dr. Munk helped plot the tides for the invasion of Normandy in WW II early in his career. Congratulations on this incredible milestone Dr. Munk and many thanks for helping us understand some of the unrelenting mysteries of the Oceans.
