Wind An Sea Surf Club was on site to enjoy 3 - 5 foot Churches, with perfect winds and no crowds for 2 days straight. We had a solid team and loads of ohana there to support, but it was the mens "Legends" with the most stoke and energy of any team including (Gary Linden, Kevin Cincotta, Ostar Dejourday, and Bob Pierce).
Ricky Cunningham was the surfer in form styling his way to 1st place in the Men's division. There was no such thing as an easy heat in any division and Wind An Sea fought hard and suffered some judging inconsistencies. The surf, weather and food could not have been better. Mark your calendars now for this event next year, the 1st weekend in January 2018 as the military has indicated they plan to revoke the lease from the State and reclaim control over trestles in 2021 !@% WTF*&?
Overall the club did great placing 2nd overall just 60 points above the host club. We had to concede to Oceanside who took the win with a roster of 36 vs. our 24. We need more participation in key divisions like womens 19-34, womens 35-49, and Grand Legends 70+.
