The La Jolla Board Riders, founded in 2019 by Cordon Baesel and Chuck Davey, compete in the West Coast Board Riders. That first year, the Windansea Surf Club sponsored this new group, made up primarily of the fantastic surfers populating the Windansea lineup, including Windansea Surf Club members. After a brief hiatus due to the pandemic, LJBR returned, sponsored again for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 seasons.

The stated goal from the LJBR at their inception was to qualify for the regional championship at Trestles, The Wheat Cup, only open to the top two teams in the Southern Region of the West Coast Board Riders, and the qualifiers for moving to larger competition. With determination and grit, and a few too many fourth place finishes, the LJBR organized themselves, enhanced their strategy, and returned for the 2024-2025 season with not only a new sense of what it takes to win but also the grit to make it happen. Their hard work paid off with a second place and first place finishes in the first two contests of the season!
